If you want to dabble in the e-commerce industry, you will need to get a good platform. The best online e-commerce platforms provide you with the necessary tools to help you build your website and turn it into an e-commerce hub where you can transact business online.
That being said, if you are on the lookout, read the rest of the article as I will talk about the absolute best of the bunch.
First up is BigCommerce, which has become a household name for quite some time now. This platform has one of the best customization features imaginable. Their customization options are so good that even Natori and Toyota have used the platform to this day.
Some of its amazing features include advanced security measures, industry-leading uptime, varied payment and order fulfillment partnerships, and a host of integrations with other industry-leading e-commerce ventures.
The downside that I can think of when it comes to this platform is the fact that the service is not that cheap. But, if you have the money, it is definitely worth it.
Also a very popular e-commerce platform, Shopify has a bevy of customization options that will help make your online store as unique and as close to your brand as possible.
That being said, with a few clicks and tweaks, you can have your online shop up and running. The good thing about Shopify is that it is great for new businesses and huge companies alike.
If you have outgrown your previous Shopify account, it scales really well as you can upgrade your existing plan to a Shopify Plus account that unlocks more features (at a cost of course).
If you are running a startup business or an SMB, then WooCommerce is something that I can wholeheartedly recommend. Unlike the previous platforms, WooCommerce is actually a WordPress plugin which, when used, turns your WordPress site into an online shopping portal.
It provides you and your customers with a secure payment processor and it also has some amazing features in terms of its own shopping cart.
Assuming that you have scaled well and your business is growing at an exponential rate, then I suggest that you move to another platform as WooCommerce isn’t exactly known for its scalability.
Salesforce Commerce Cloud
Formerly known as Demandware, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, as you can probably tell by the name, is a cloud-based e-commerce platform that is specifically made for B2C retailers.
Part of the reason why I consider this as one of the best is the fact that you can integrate with a variety of different CRM and marketing services, which makes this appealing for huge enterprises.
Other features include globalization options (for international companies), AI integration, as well as personalization options.
Volusion is one of those platforms that are perfect for whatever size of business you are running. That is because they provide services based on tiers and you can choose one that you think will work best for your company.
Having said that, some of the features that you can use include in-site blogging capabilities, discount code creation, a wide selection of free themes, among many others.
If your business mainly revolves around selling art, Big Cartel is the one that I can recommend. This platform is tailor-made for artists who are looking to sell their art pieces to the public.
It includes features such as real-time sales statistics, custom domain, the ability to add promos and discounts to certain items, and even inventory tracking as well.
The pricing is just right for this kind of business model.
