Just like anything in this world, affiliate marketing is subject to the shifting of trends. Every year, new and old trends are introduced and re-introduced, respectively, so as an affiliate marketer, it is your job to stay abreast of these things.
Today, I am going to be talking about the different trends in affiliate marketing that you should know in 2019.
Influencer Marketing is the New King
Don’t get me wrong, content is still king when it comes to affiliate marketing, but if you are a blogger in this day and age, you are missing out on a huge opportunity. You see, influencer marketing is the new king in the world of affiliate marketing. Just think about the Youtube and Instagram stars that are taking the online world by storm.
According to a recent survey, 39% of ad agencies have reported the tremendous contributions of influencers in terms of promoting products. In fact, the influencer market is bustling and growing as we speak.
Now, this is not to say that you should immediately jump into the hype but this is to say that you may have to also explore other avenues if you wish to stay relevant in this day and age.
Push Notifications Are a Huge Deal
Because so many people have mobile devices nowadays, it just makes sense to provide your users with notifications about your latest products or content. Push notifications are akin to email in that you send it to your followers. However, the main difference is that you send them to your audience’s mobile device so that they will stay informed about the latest and greatest that you have to offer.
More Video Content
There is a reason why a lot of content creators flock to Youtube nowadays and that is because of video content. According to Forbes, by 2021, roughly 80% of online users will be consuming video content over any other content type in existence. As to the veracity of this statement, we will have to wait and see. Again, this is not to discount blogging as a legitimate platform for affiliate marketing, but I will have to say that you should incorporate more videos into your platform if you wish more and more people to go to your site.
Privacy is a Huge Deal
Privacy is now a major concern since a lot of different services would require user data or input. That being said, it is important to research on the products that you are going to promote.
For example, if you are trying to advertise a VPN service, you have to know its reputation beforehand and that you only promote services that are known for keeping the user’s privacy from prying eyes.
Voice Search as the Future
As voice-recognition software and IoT devices become more mainstream, it should come as no surprise that voice search is going to be a huge thing moving forward. Since SEO is always going to be a part of your content strategy, it is important that you use more long-tail keywords since this will make search queries more natural.
